Cruise

Well it's the day before we leave and the last minute preparations are being taken. K and I are doing errands and I had promised to buy him a new book to draw in. As we were heading to Starbucks for frapuccino's (non-coffee for those who don't know!), K looks up at me and says:

"Mom, I love you so much, I would do anything for you....... (insert short pause here) except touch fruits and vegetables ..... or eat them either"

Anyway, it made me laugh and give him a huge hug. He's being so good while we get ready for our trip. Well, I better sign off before Kent wakes up and realizes that I have turned the computer back on!

Where to Start

Things have been sooooooo busy lately at work that I haven't had time to blog and so much has happened, so many cute K stories.

His last day of school with his 2nd grade teacher was yesterday. It was kind of sad because I have really liked this teacher with him and I am not so thrilled with his new teacher. His 2nd grade teacher happens to love frogs..... So we made a frog cake to say goodbye. I'm including a picture of how the cake was supposed to look, but not how it actually did!

First of all, I put a smiley face on it, 2nd I made a green lilypad and not the pink flower, 3rd I was too lazy to put the cattails, so it got dots all around and it said "We Love You Dani" on the top.

On other notes, the other day K came into the office and said to me: "Mom my talent is hot chicks. T is blonde and she is hot!" Boy are we in trouble when it comes to girls. This boy of ours "loves" girls. He often has one or two girlfriends at a time. It's when he was hugging and kissing T during primary that we had to say "that's enough of that".

We are counting the days to our Disney Cruise next week. We are leaving on the third and going down to LA. We are going to do Knottsberry Farm and Legoland and then get on the ship to Mexico. We told K that he was so lucky because there are parts of the ship that parents can't go. What we didn't tell him is that it was so we can get some alone time! We've already booked swimming with the dolphins (K and I only because it was all booked and Kent has already swam with dolphins before).

When we get back, its back to school for the summer, but each day he will be done at 12:00 instead of 2:00 and I'll be able to work until 2:00 instead of 4:00 so early days the rest of summer.

Jog-A-Thom

K school held a Jog-A-Thon today. He ran 14 or 15 laps around the square (two basketball courts). After they were done they had donated popsicles for them to eat. He had a blast.

They sure do copy what you say

You know your in trouble when:

The other day we were on our way to school and I saw the most disgusting green/gold car and I said to K oh gosh, isn't that the ugliest color? He says "Mom I like that color"

A few seconds later:

"Mom how would you feel if someone said that about your car? It would hurt your feelings wouldn't it?"

My thoughts at this point are, oh dang, where have I heard this before - laughing in my head.

So I said your right K it would hurt my feelings and as we passed the ugly gross looking car I apologized to it. I then told him thank you for helping me to be a little bit nicer.

His response was, "Yeah, you should be nice like (a boy in his class), he's always really nice."

You just never know when your words are going to come back and bite you in the butt!

Months and Months since I've blogged

Well it has been a very long time since I last blogged. So long in fact that my link got dumped off of Kim & Ron's Blog site :).

Lots has happened that's for sure.

K has made lots of progress this year, with some major changes in his medicine which hopefully will last a while.

Kent had a heart attack and is still on the road to recovery. He is doing fairly well attending all his physical therapy appointments.

And as for me, I keep plodding along!

We are going on a cruise in July to Mexico on the Disney Cruise. K will turn 8 on the cruise. The most amazing thing has happened though, Kent and I had really discussed whether to push forward with his baptism even though he has still never put his face under the water. We had decided it would be okay to wait until he was ready. Recently, when he was talking to someone about it, he just out of the blue said Im gonna get baptised when I'm 9. It was just so funny how he knew that was when he would be ready.

Sock in the Nose Story

When K has a decision to make, it is always very difficult for him. For example, when he is hungry you can ask him: Do you want Chicken Nuggets? No. Do you want a Hot Dog? No. Do you want.....? No.

Sometimes it is at this point that Kent will ask "Do you want a sock in the nose?". No. etc.

The other day K wanted some candy really really badly and I kept saying no. He was starting to throw a temper tantrum and yelling "I want candy". So finally, I just said "well, I'd like a sock in the nose, but Im not gonna get one." It stopped him dead in his tracks, he pauses and then cocks his head and says very emphatically, "Allright".

He takes off running for my bedroom and opens my sock drawer, grabs one of my christmas socks and runs back into the kitchen and attempts to stick it on my nose.

By this time, we are both rolling on the floor laughing so hard and he has totally lost track of the fact that he wanted candy. Kent comes in from the office and he's like, what's so funny!

I was just grateful that he doesn't understand that "sock in the nose" is a pseudonym for a punch in the nose!

K's 7th Birthday

Well, I know its been a month since my first post. Things here have been very busy because K is still in school until August 17th. On July 10th K turned 7 years old, it was a quiet day here, we went out to John's Incredible Pizza for dinner so that we could decide if that was were we wanted to hold his party.
The kids in the picture are C from our Ward, K and A, K's cousin.

It is a great place, a huge building that has a regular size twister ride, bumper cars, bowling, a mini-roller coaster and games. Like Chuckie Cheese they have games that they can play for tickets, but instead of tokens they have little credit card type things that you swipe.

Unlike Chuckie Cheese, however, they have good food, buffet style. They have a salad bar, pasta bar, pizza bar and dessert bar.

So what we did is booked his party on a Wednesday at 3:00, it was perfect because it was a slow day for the restaurant. You spend the first hour and a half in a party room with the party planner. You get to eat and while the kids are eating she starts making balloon animals. Then they play games. The party planner makes the list of who gave him what, she also helped carry the presents and stuff to the car. Afterwards they go out on to the floor to play the games. It was a great time. He had 7 kids and five adults at the party. Kent, Jeannie, Evan, Robin and Nin'el, K, C.H., A.C, N.C, B.M, T.E. and M.E.
